ABOUT

Brenda Olson

Brenda Was born in Minnesota. She was lucky enough to grow up on a hobby farm with 2 horses, 2 cats, a bunch of bunnies, and a chicken. She enjoyed things like gathering frogs in cardboard boxes and exploring the seven acre farm, collecting treasures in the fields and woods behind her house. Brenda loves animals and, as a kid, she imagined that she would work at a zoo one day, and be with all of the animals all of the time. Her love of creating started in 4H, where she dabbled in a variety of crafts and dreamed of having a creation chosen to be displayed at the State Fair!

As she got older her love of creating turned into a love for making Art. She minored in Art in college and got a degree in Occupational Therapy with a special interest in using art and craft in the therapeutic process. Brenda recently made the leap to pursue her personal Art full time. She started and currently runs a successful wholesale greeting card company called "Blueberry Road Cards + Gifts" and has had her art and products in over 300 stores across the U.S. and Canada, and the list is growing every week!

Brenda is inspired by folk art and outsider art and loves this immediate and playful approach to art making. She works in mixed media and also uses digital techniques. Brenda now lives in Wisconsin with her husband, Paul, who is an Architectural Designer. He recently started learning to play guitar, proving that you can teach an old dog new tricks. She has two kids who are the biggest gifts in her life. Her son Owen is pursuing music in college and her daughter Katie is a senior in high school and is a strong and beautiful dancer. Last but not least, Brenda has 2 cats and a dog that keep her company in the studio and almost never knock her art supplies off of her table.
